Method:

  • In an autoclave , boil chopped tomatoes, tur dal, tamarind, curry leaves and a couple of cups of water for two whistles. Cool and blend during a mixer, straining if needed to get rid of the tomato seeds and skin. Add the combination to a pan and boil again.
  • Coarsely grind the cumin seeds, peppercorns, and asafoetida. increase the tomato mix and boil for five minutes. Add salt to taste.
  • Heat oil during a small pan and add the tempering ingredients. Once they splutter, pour within the tomato mix and add the coriander leaves. Have this tangy rasam as a soup before meals or mid meals.
